“Imperially noted”, “First place by Imperial Order”! But hang on a second before you thank his Royal Highness, look closely and you will find that these are adhesive paper tapes imprinted with Emperor Kangxi’s words from Qing Court Communications collected by the National Palace Museum, while the “First class by Imperial Order” pencil set was inspired by an answer sheet of the principal examination of Guang-xu year 15 (1889), Qing Dynasty. Of course, the two most popular items of the Palace Museum—the meat-shaped stone and jadeite cabbage—as well as the Mao-kung Ting, are also making an appearance in the shape of stationeries. Come and experience the “imperial style”!As part of its services to the extensive domestic public and overseas tourists, the Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) has introduced a number of best-selling souvenirs from the National Palace Museum, such as ornaments, key rings, charms and pens inspired by the meat-shaped stone—a rock resembling a luscious piece of “Tung-p’o meat”, or the jadeite cabbage that symbolizes purity and abundance of offspring. Also available are the paper tapes imprinted with the words “Imperially noted” that became all the rage with a recent television series, and the “First class by Imperial Order” pencil set, where every pencil is inscribed to bring students good luck in examinations. The “Mao-kung Ting Candle Holder”, on the other hand, incorporates the classic with the modern, and emits a soft, elegant glow through its glass material.

Be it for collection or for use, all items on sale are selected from the hundred best-selling souvenirs of the National Palace Museum. Not only are they good for personal use, they also make great presents. Available are:1. For ornamental collection: The jadeite cabbage series; meat-shaped stone series; mini Mao-kung Ting, snuff bottle with dragon decoration; and celestial globe vase with chrysanthemum décor.

Current displays include porcelains inscribed with poetry by the Emperor; classical imitation and innovation of imperial ware of the Qianlung era; masterly openwork revolving vases; miniature curiosity cabinets, and the Emperor’s intricate treasure boxes.
