2014 Old Building New Life Awards Open for Submissions

2014 Old Building New Life Awards Open for Submissions

Urban Regeneration Office (URO) will be holding a press event to kick-off the annual Old Building New Life Awards at URS44 Dadaocheng Story Workshop 2 PM on June 19.

Singer and songwriter Lele will take to the stage, performing her new song–Creation–dedicated to the 2014 edition of the awards. Winners from last year will also appeared at the venue to share with the audience their experience of renovating and repairing old edifices as well as how the spaces have been reinvigorated after “rebirth”. URO noted that the city government’s urban renewal policies focus more on rehabilitation and regeneration of old communities than reconstruction of derelict buildings. The awards, therefore, are intended to promote a sustainable city and coexistence between humans and old buildings through breathing new life into what would otherwise be left to the elements. Submissions will be accepted between June 19 and August 29. Revamp projects of public or private edifices will have to be completed by April 30, 2014 to become eligible to enter the competition of which the top prize is NT$250,000!
