Water Festival Offers Free Admission to Kids 12 or Under

Deputy Mayor Chen Hsiung-wen attended the opening ceremony of the 2014 Taipei Water Festival at Taipei Water Park on June 28.

During his address, the deputy mayor encouraged the kids to take part in the upcoming “Sea Monster Hunt” on Saturday. He noted that the event, now in its 11th year, is a popular event among children. According to Chen, the event attracted approximately 300,000 people to the park during the summer of 2013. This year, the water park offers new facilities and grants free admission to children who are 12 years old or younger. To the deputy mayor, the development of the park is to provide children of Taipei City with a venue to enjoy outdoor activities, encouraging them to leave behind video games and air-conditioned room. Noting the overwhelming number of visitors every year, he believes that the water park is a great place for kids to enjoy summer vacation.At the opening ceremony, many parents brought their children to the event venue. The deputy mayor kicked-off the “Sea Monster Hunt” event by firing his water pistol.
