HEO Reminds Visitors Not to Enter Hope Fountain

As one of Dajia Riverside Park’s well-known landmarks, the Hope Fountain attracts many curious eyes when it stages a fountain show in the afternoon sunlight.

However, the Hydraulic Engineering Office (HEO) warns visitors not to enter the fountain, as the mechanism is powered by 380v electricity. Violators can be fined between NT$1,200 and NT$6,000!Citing a recent incident involving two young men riding YouBikes into the fountain, HEO noted that their reckless behavior is punishable based on Section 7 under Article 13 of the Autonomous Statue for Management of Taipei City Parks. The agency emphasized that fines are minor concern compared to the risks of electric shocks. There are signs around the fountain warning visitors not to enter the fountain to avoid such risk. For those who want to enjoy splashing cold water on a hot day, HEO suggests using the children’s splash area next to the fountain. The facility, which is completely free of charge, is open from 3 PM to 6 PM between July 1 and August 31.
