Concert to Celebrate Fast-breaking for Indonesian Workers

To celebrate the Festival of Lebaran (Eid al-Fitr or Fast-breaking) for Indonesian workers in Taipei, the Foreign and Disabled Labor Office (FDLO) will hold a concert from 1 PM to 5 PM at the main plaza of National Theater & Concert Hall on August 3.

The concert will star Indonesian singer Inul Daratista, who will perform songs to entertain Indonesian expats and assuage their homesickness. In addition, there will also be a concert featuring band music and dances at the 228 Peace Memorial Park on the same day. According to Labor Commissioner Chen Yeh-shin, the city is holding the events to show respect to the hard-working Indonesian laborers, who regard fast-breaking as an important practice of their Islamic beliefs.

To better guide visitors from other municipalities to the event venue, the City has put up signs written in Indonesian with info of the concert at Taipei Railway Station. The train station will also schedule bilingual broadcasts, allowing foreign workers to feel the warmth in the city government’s efforts. For those interested in the concert, additional information is available at the Chinese website of FDLO (http://www.fd.taipei.gov.tw). You can also call: (02)2559-8518, ext. 5213.
