With the approach of the new semester, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will hold a recycled furniture auction between 10 AM and 5 PM on August 24 at Neihu Recycled Furniture House. Residents are invited to hunt for furniture at bargain prices – even ones starting at 70% off the listed price!

According to DEP, there will be 800-odd items on offer. Among these, there are items with bidding price starting at NT$1, such as tea trays, pinball machines, and wine jars – among other interesting articles.

The auction will officially kick off at 10:40 AM, featuring sofa sets, camphor lumber closets and Chinese brushes, as well as 52 sets of desks and chairs, computer desks, bookcases, pencil boxes, and more.

Among the merchandise on auction are a number of unique seals made from macassar ebony, or the “dark wood.” The dense wood is unique in that its color varies among different species. Popular belief states that macassar ebony seals are capable of bringing wisdom, intelligence, dexterity, and sympathy to their owners.

In addition to the auction of recycled furniture pieces, a number of activities will also take place at the venue including bike check-ups, quiz sessions, used books giveaway, and furniture repair lessons.
