Outstanding Public Restroom, Janitors Recognized

Mayor Hau Lung-bin attended the award ceremony honoring well-maintained public restrooms and outstanding janitors on September 12.

The ceremony recognized the management teams of 48 public restrooms and 45 janitors showing outstanding results in the evaluation conducted for the year 2014. Their efforts have strengthened Taipei’s profile as an international city.The winners in the category of public restrooms include City Link Songshan store, Halar Cinemas, and EXPO Hall at Taipei Expo Park. Shih Chien University also received the spotlight for renovating all restrooms on its campus based on accessible design.Congratulating the winners for their hard work, the mayor pointed out that each and every restroom represents the corporate culture of the respective agency or organization. He requested that all public restrooms in Taipei should comply with global standards on hygiene and cleanliness, because these are facilities that everyone utilizes.The mayor remarked that he would ask his own kids to take up the responsibilities of cleaning restrooms at their schools during their middle school and high school years. He stressed that the act of cleaning up public restrooms is the first step towards training students to carry out social services and increase their awareness about the society.
