Water Conservation in the Spotlight at Educational Exhibit

On September 16, Mayor Hau Lung-bin visited the “Water for Run‧Run for Water” exhibition which highlights water resources and environmental education.

Organized by Delta Electronics Foundation, the showcase is taking place at the No. 1 Warehouse of Songshan Cultural and Creative Park.Hau pointed out that water conservation is an integral part of eco education. Despite living in a country with relatively few water scarcity issues, it is nonetheless important for us to learn how nations with limited water supply utilize water resources in an effective manner through the exhibition. The mayor also exchanged opinions with Delta Electronics Chairman Yancey Hai on the City’s water resource policies. He noted that “water leak prevention” and “water conservation” are two top priorities for his administration. Successful dredging and sludge treatment for Feitsui Reservoir contributed to the improvement of stored raw water quality, which can rival those of advanced countries like Switzerland. During his tour of the exhibition, Hau had a chance to try out “NEWater”—the reclaimed water from Singapore. Having traveled to the city-state many times, the mayor noted that Taiwan has a lot to learn from Singapore – from purifying wastewater to making the water potable through cutting-edge technologies such as microfiltration and reverse osmosis.
