Guandu Outdoor Sculpture Fest to Feature Installation Art

The Animal Protection Office announced that the 9th Guandu International Outdoor Sculpture Festival will kick off on September 28!

The opening carnival will feature much fanfare, including demonstration of artwork creation by artists, interactive games exploring humans’ five senses, wetland concerts, ducklings telling stories, guided tours, nature film airing, postcard drawing, and more!As a part of the annual fest, an installation art program will be held at a number of venues between September 11 and 27. These locations include Guandu Nature Park, Zhishan Cultural and Ecological Garden, and Taipei National University of the Arts. The program will see the participation of five artists hailing from New Zealand, Canada, the Philippines, Taiwan, and France to make artworks at the above-mentioned locations. They will employ natural materials at hand, such as twigs, dried leaves, mud, bamboo, and rocks. The exhibition will last until December 31.To encourage people to slow their pace in the fast moving world and spend more time to observe their environment, the theme of the fest—A Micro View of Nature—seeks to guide visitors to discover and appreciate the beautiful things prevalent in nature but are often neglected. The organizers hope that through the exhibition, the public will be inspired to reflect upon the relationship between human and nature.Guandu International Outdoor Sculpture Festival: http://gd-park.org.tw/sculpture-festival (Chinese)
