Refurbishment Completed for Shezi Island’s Riverside Park

The landscape along the banks of Tamsui River has been further enhanced! The Hydraulic Engineering Office (HEO) completed renovations for the Fuan Riverside Park on Shezi Island in August, 2014. The facelift incorporated unique environmental and cultural factors from the surroundings, making the park more accessible and relaxing for visitors.

Located at the end of Lane 27 on Yanping North Road Section 7, the park is equipped with facilities such as a badminton court and exercising area, as well as a small wharf for parking fishing rafts and dragon boats. Playing a role in the preservation of river fishing culture and dragon boat tradition for the local community, the park is an ideal habitat for birds and other wildlife. Its location at the riverbanks also makes it a popular destination for locals to enjoy a stroll by the water or to exercise.Despite these advantages, the old design of the park showed problems such as inconvenient pedestrian walkways, narrow room near the riverbank paths, and unkempt landscaping. In response to expectations of local residents, HEO overhauled the park and its facilities, linking the upstream and downstream sections of the park with better designed walkways and small bridges. It also improved the landscape by adding decorations such as mural paintings along the river dike.
