Emergency Intercom Installed at Elevators across Pedestrian Bridges, Underpasses

The New Construction Office (NCO) of Public Works Department announced that emergency intercom systems have been installed at the city’s 14 accessibility lifts across 8 pedestrian bridges, river crossings, and pedestrian underpasses.

The locations include Zhonghua Road Pedestrian Bridge, Wanhua Tengyun Pedestrian Bridge, Wanhua Huazhong Bridge Pedestrian Bridge, Jiuquan Street Pedestrian Bridge, Neihu Xingshan Pedestrian Bridge, Rainbow River Crossing, Nangang Business Park Pedestrian Underpass, and National Taiwan University Hospital Pedestrian Underpass.NCO noted that in the event of emergencies, individuals can press the emergency intercom button inside the elevator for 5 seconds and the staff at the remote monitoring center will address their needs immediately and refer their cases to concerned authorities accordingly. NCO added that the lifts will be regularly maintained and inspected on a daily basis to ensure safety of users. However, the agency advises the public to use the device only in urgent situations.
