The 2015 Taipei Lantern Festival will kick off on February 27 and last through March 8 at Taipei Flora Expo Park! To join the event, you only need to take MRT, get off at the MRT Yuanshan Station and walk to the venue. To cope with the expected huge crowds at MRT Yuanshan Station during this event, Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) announced that passengers with bicycles will not be allowed to enter/exit the MRT Yuanshan Station after 3 PM on February 27, 28, March 1, 7, and 8, 2015. The Taipei City Government will also suspend the YouBike rental services at Exit 2 of the MRT Yuanshan Station and Taipei Fine Arts Museum between February 27 and March 8 (7 PM to 10 PM on working days, and 5 PM to 12 midnight on holidays). To handle the sharp increase in rider volume in this event, TRTC will assign more than 400 support personnel to help station staff members to ensure smooth crowd flow inside the MRT Yuanshan, Jiantan, and Minquan West Road stations. If the MRT Yuanshan Station is overcrowded on holidays, TRTC will open the emergency exit on the platform as a temporary exit which will be equipped with mobile gates. To transport the huge volume of passengers during the event, TRTC will adjust train services depending on the passenger volume.Trains heading to Tamsui may bypass the MRT Yuanshan Station if deemed necessary to avoid overcrowding. Passengers should disembark at Minquan West Road Station, and take a walk to the venue.Based on the actual situation at the individual MRT stations, passengers are advised to follow the directions given by TRTC personnel, as temporary crowd control measures may be implemented at the platform entrance, the gates, or the exits to avoid overcrowding. The public are also reminded to remain aware of their companions and belongings at all time. For more information, please call the TRTC 24-hour hotline at 886-2-218-12345 or the 1999 Citizen Hotline.
