Taipei, Da Nang in Vietnam is the most popular new emerging tourist city for Taiwanese tourists, according to a survey on 2019 travel destinations released by the hotel booking website Booking.com Thursday.
According to Booking.com, the top five 2019 emerging travel destinations for Taiwan’s travelers is Da Nang, followed by Daegu in South Korea, Porto in Portugal, Sendai in Japan and Cebu in the Philippines.
The booking site said that in recent years tourists have preferred destinations that are not only special but also less well known, adding that Da Nang became Taiwan’s favorite because of its low cost of living, authentic Vietnamese culture, and the city’s My Khe Beach, which has been ranked one of the six most attractive beaches on the planet.
More and more travelers from Taiwan are also visiting second-tier cities in Japan and South Korea, such as Sendai with its maple tree trail and beef tongue, and Daegu which also features autumn scenes of maple leaves, Booking.com said.
Meanwhile, the website also released a list of the most popular 2019 emerging travel destinations for tourists around the world, which included Wadi Rum in Jordan, Samarkand in Uzbekistan and Bacalar in Mexico.
