Cool, wet weather forecast in Taiwan for first part of next week

Taipei, The weather across Taiwan will be cool and rainy for the next three days due to the arrival of a continental cold air mass, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Saturday.

Northeasterly winds and a cloud system will bring lower temperatures and rain around the country until Jan. 8, CWB forecaster Lin Po-tung said.

On Sunday, daytime temperatures will be 16-21 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan, 17-25 degrees in the central parts of the country, and 19-27 in the south, with chances of intermittent rain throughout the island, the bureau said.

According to Lin, the mercury is likely to drop sharply at night from Sunday to Tuesday.

Daytime temperatures will begin to rise Jan. 9 as the cold air mass weakens, giving way to clear and stable weather for the rest of the week, he said.
