Taipei-The Golden Horse Fantastic Film Festival is slated to take place from April 9-18 in Taipei, bringing to audiences cinematic classics covering a wide range of genres, as well as films featuring veteran actress-host Whoopi Goldberg and comedic actor Will Ferrell.
The annual festival, now in its 12th year, will feature a “Sing-Along” section, screening the 1975 musical classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and the musical comedy “Sister Act” (1992), starring Whoopi Goldberg, the festival organizer said in a news release on Thursday.
In addition, moviegoers will be able to watch a total of three sports-themed comedy films starring Will Ferrell — “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” (2006), “Blades of Glory” (2007) and “Semi-Pro” (2008).
One of the highlights this year will be the screening of the 25th Anniversary restored edition of the true crime classic “Fargo” by Joel and Ethan Coen, according to the organizer.
Meanwhile, adventure film “The Goonies” (1985) by Richard Donner, sci-fi romantic comedy “Electric Dreams” (1984) by Steve Barron, Spanish director Carlos Saura’s 1976 melodrama “Raise Ravens” and 2003 Oscar-nominated animated film “The Triplets of Belleville” will also be shown at the annual event.
Tickets will be available from March 28 and the venue for the festival will also be announced soon, the organizer said.
The festival was cancelled last year in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, but this year, audiences will be able to see the films on the big screen.
