Company donates schoolbags to orphans and underprivileged school boys (Taiwan News)

Taipei Aug. 27 (CNA) A Taiwanese enterprise has donated 350 schoolbags to orphans and school boys from underprivileged families, allowing them to be better prepared for the new school semester which is about to begin, the Taipei Orphan Welfare Foundation (TOWF) said on Thursday.

Hsiao Cheng-tung, executive director of Forever Living Products Taiwan, delivered the donation to the TOWF in a ceremony held Wednesday at the headquarters of the Tapei-based charity organization.

After receiving the donation, Feng Yu-ling, chief executive of the TOWF, said that the donated schoolbags and stationeries included are the best gifts for the children at this moment.

“The donated materials will provide the children better learning conditions,” Feng said.

Hsu Shih-hsun, a Taipei City councilor who convinced the company to make the donation, was also present at the ceremony.

He said he hopes that the donation would raise more public attention to the welfare of disadvantaged children.

Established in 1968, the TOWF is serving more than 6,000 kids from 3,900 families around Taiwan, offering them subsidies, tutoring, counseling, medical care, career guidance, and other assistance.

The company that donated the schoolbags, has made similar donations for helping the underprivileged school boys around Taiwan since 2012. (By Hsu Chih-wei and Lauren Hung)
