CORONAVIRUS/Local governments detail movements of COVID-19 positive individuals

Seven people who recently tested positive for COVID-19 visited several retailers and traveled on public transport in Taipei and Taoyuan before their infections were confirmed, the local city governments said Wednesday.

Taipei

Taipei City government said one of the cases, a kindergarten teacher, traveled extensively in the city’s Songshan and Nangang districts from Jan. 21-24.

The woman went to Simple Mart on Yucheng St. and 7-Eleven near Ningan Park, city officials said, adding that she also took the Taipei MRT green line from Taipei Arena to Songshan stations, as well as the blue line from Houshanpi to Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall stations, and from Zhongxiao Dunhua to Houshanpi stations.

In cases involving three university students in Taipei, two of them are employees at convenience stores. The three visited the city’s Daan, Wenshan, Zhongzheng, Zhongshan, Wanhua and Datong districts from Jan. 17-24.

They took trains from Taoyuan to Taipei on Jan. 17, 19 and 22, as well as traveled on the Taipei MRT red line from Zhongshan station to Taipei main station on Jan. 20, city officials said.

Other stores they visited during this period included PX Mart near Xingfu Junior High School, Good Old Days near National Taiwan Normal University, and restaurant Jhu Jian Catering in Ximending.

In addition, they went to Touch Billiards & Darts, S-DARTS Taiwan and 89 Loop Sports Bar.

Taoyuan

Taoyuan City government also made public the movements of three individuals linked to a cluster in the Farglory Free Trade Zone (FTZ) near Taoyuan International Airport from Jan. 15-23.

They visited PX Mart on Zhongzhen Rd., RT Mart near the Da Cheng Elementary School, Taoyuan train station, and She Space spa, officials said.

The city governments have advised members of the public who were at any of those locations on the dates listed to monitor their health for 14 days and call the 1922 hotline to arrange a COVID-19 test if they develop COVID-19 symptoms.

On Wednesday, Taiwan reported 92 new COVID-19 cases, half of them domestically transmitted and half imported, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center.
