Taiwan on Thursday recorded 83 new COVID-19 cases, consisting of 37 domestically transmitted cases and 46 that originated abroad, with no new deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).
Of the new domestic cases, 11 were linked to a previously reported cluster with a known source, while another 25 cases, including 15 at a Career Technology Co. plant in Shulin District, New Taipei, were linked to clusters of unknown origin, the CECC said.
Another case, reported in New Taipei, was also of unknown origin, the CECC said.
Nineteen of the new cases had received two COVID-19 vaccine doses, four had received one vaccine dose, and the vaccination status of the remaining 14 were still under investigation, the CECC said.
In addition to the domestic cases, Taiwan also reported 46 imported cases on Thursday, 15 of whom tested positive upon arrival in Taiwan. The CECC did not release any information regarding the vaccination status of the imported cases.
To date, Taiwan has confirmed 19,376 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in early 2020, including 15,275 domestically transmitted infections.
With no deaths reported on Thursday, the number of confirmed COVID-19 deaths in the country remained at 851.
