Taiwan reported 96 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday — 33 domestically transmitted and 63 that originated abroad — and no new deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

The domestic cases were 15 males and 18 females, ranging in age from under 5 to over 70 years, the CECC said.

Nine of the new domestic cases were linked to a Keelung cluster that was first reported late last week, the CECC said.

Meanwhile, the 63 new imported cases were 44 males and 19 females, under 5 to over 70 years of age, according to the CECC.

The 63 people entered Taiwan between Feb. 16 and March 28 this year from various countries, including Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand and Hong Kong, and 13 of them tested positive for COVID-19 on arrival at at the airport in Taiwan, the CECC said.

To date, Taiwan has confirmed 22,992 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in early 2020, including 15,726 domestically transmitted infections.

With no deaths reported Tuesday, the number of confirmed COVID-19 fatalities in the country remained at 853.
