Leading producer to raise tissue prices before end of February

The prices for popular tissue brands Mayflower, Delight, and Tender in Taiwan will be raised by late February at the latest, according to producer Yuen Foong Yu Consumer Products Co., Ltd. (YFYCPG).

One of Taiwan’s largest tissue makers, YFTCPG confirmed the time of its planned price adjustment on Monday, after announcing a hike by 8 percent to interfold tissue — the most purchased tissue products in Taiwan — before the end of the recently concluded Lunar New Year holiday.

The company said Monday that it would raise household paper prices as planned and that the adjustment would be reflected in all distribution channels around the country by late February.

The actual prices could vary by then depending on different distribution channels, YFYCPG added.

The company explained late last year that its plan to raise prices was decided amid a spike in international raw material costs.

According to the company, the prices of pulp, packaging, and power, which account for the bulk of its production costs, had increased more than 40 percent in 2021, with some nearly doubling.

In addition to paper products, YFYCPG also owns the cleaning product brands Orange House, Fresh Sense, and New Clean.
