Legislature embraces green energy at Taichung complex

Taichung, The Legislative Yuan on Tuesday started to install rooftop solar panels on buildings at the Legislative Yuan Park in Wufeng, Taichung, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote green energy.

The Assembly Affairs Museum and an office building at the park are being fitted with a solar power system that can generate 260,000 kilowatts per year, enough to power 70 households, and help reduce carbon emissions by 140,000 kilograms per year, according to Legislative Speaker You Si-kun (游錫堃).

The park occupies an area of 19 hectares, is home to 200 species of tropical plant and three historic buildings, including the Assembly Affairs Museum.

In addition to the park in Taichung, a Legislative Yuan building on Zhengjiang Street in Taipei is also being fitted with solar panels, You noted, adding that these projects demonstrate the importance the Legislature attaches to green energy.
