Northeasterly winds bring rain to northern, eastern Taiwan

Northeasterly winds will bring rainfall to northern and eastern Taiwan on Sunday, while other parts of the country will see cloudy to sunny skies, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).

Brief showers are expected in eastern Taiwan and along the coast in Keelung, while sporadic rainfall will occur in the Greater Taipei region, the CWB said.

Temperature highs are forecast to hover around 24-25 degrees Celsius in areas north of Taoyuan and in the northeastern county of Yilan, though highs in the rest of the country could reach 26 to 30 degrees, the CWB said.

Nighttime lows of 20 to 22 degrees are expected across Taiwan, the CWB said.

Similar weather will remain in place until Wednesday, when increased moisture will bring rainfall to northern and eastern Taiwan and the Hengchun Peninsula in the south, lasting from Thursday to Saturday, according to the CWB.

During that time, other parts of Taiwan will still see cloudy to sunny skies, the CWB said.
