The Taiwanese delegation visiting Europe has signed five memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with Czech officials to boost information sharing and technology cooperation, according to Taiwan’s National Development Council (NDC).
Under the five agreements inked at an investment forum in Prague, the two sides agreed to bolster ties in the cyber security, space, catalyst technology, green energy, and smart machinery fields, the NDC said in a statement Monday.
For instance, the Taiwan Space Industry Development Association will partner with its Czech counterparts to boost information exchanges and technology development collaboration in the space sector, according to the NDC statement.
More than 170 meetings between companies from Taiwan and the Czech Republic were also arranged, it said.
The MOUs marked a step forward in bilateral trade ties, the NDC said, after a delegation led by Czech Senate President Miloš Vystrcil visited Taiwan last year and signed three MOUs to enhance exchanges in the 5G, semiconductor, health, and information sectors.
NDC head Kung Ming-hsin (???), who led the 66-member Taiwanese delegation, said at the forum that he hopes the two countries, which share the values of freedom and democracy, can work more closely together as global supply chains undergo restructuring.
The delegation includes top economic and technology officials and representatives of research institutes, business associations and industrial groups, the NDC said.
The delegation, which is visiting the Czech Republic from Oct. 23-26, went to Slovakia from Oct. 21-23 and will be in Lithuania from Oct. 26-29 as part of the government’s strategy to boost trade and economic ties with Central and Eastern European countries.
