Taiwan wins 2 more golds, 1 bronze at Asian U18 Athletics Championships

Taiwan’s youth team won two more gold medals and another bronze at the 4th Asian Under-18 Athletics Championships in Kuwait on Saturday, the third day of the competition.

 

One of the gold medal winners was Lin Yen-kai (林硯楷), who finished first in the men’s 400 meters hurdles in a time of 52.23 seconds, edging out Mahamat Abakar Abdrahman of Qatar (52.47).

 

With that time, Lin, who hails from Yunlin County, also broke the national U18 record of 52.49 in that event, which was set by Huang Ting-hsuan (52.49) in 2017.

 

Taiwanese Chu Pin-hsun (朱品薰) also snagged gold on Sunday, with a throw of 52.7 meters in the women’s javelin event.

 

The other Taiwanese medalist on the third day of the championships was Yi Po-an (易柏安), who took bronze in the women’s 400 meters hurdles, clocking 62.4.

 

So far, Taiwan is at the top of the medal table with a tally of eight — five gold, one silver and two bronze.

 

The event will run until Sunday.
