Warm, sunny weather forecast across Taiwan next week: CWB

Most parts of Taiwan will see warm and sunny weather on Sunday and the rest of next week, but there will be a large temperature difference between the daytime and nights, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).

On Sunday, daytime highs could reach 21-23 degrees Celsius in the north and east, and 25-26 degrees in central and southern Taiwan, with even higher temperatures possible in some inland areas, the CWB said.

Clear skies are expected across Taiwan with the exception of Hualien and Taitung in the east, where sporadic showers are possible, according to the bureau.

Despite the warming weather during the day, temperatures are still expected to fall significantly at night, the bureau said, adding that the mercury hit lows on Sunday morning of 11-14 degrees across much of the country.

The lowest temperature in a low-lying area in Taiwan early Sunday was 6.7 degrees recorded in Keelung’s Qidu District at 6:20 a.m., while Miaoli’s Xihu Township saw lows dip to 6.9 degrees, CWB data showed.

Wu Der-rong (???), an adjunct associate professor of atmospheric sciences at National Central University, said clear skies, gradually warming daytime temperatures and cool nights were forecast in Taiwan through next Saturday.

Next Sunday night, a cold front is expected to arrive in Taiwan, though the system’s strength and the amount of rain it will bring remain uncertain, Wu said.
