Weather to stay warm before turning cooler Friday

Taipei,  The weather in northern Taiwan will remain relatively warm over the next few days before turning cooler on Friday, the Central Weather Bureau said Monday.

Stable warm weather can be expected in many parts of the country through Wednesday, although sporadic showers will still be seen in mountainous regions in northern and eastern parts of Taiwan, CWB forecaster Lin Ting-yi (林定宜) said.

Starting Thursday, the weather will turn cloudy, with a slight drop in temperatures and occasional showers forecast for the region, Lin said.

Approaching northeasterly winds with dry air currents will then send the mercury down to as low as 20 degrees Celsius across areas north of Miaoli County starting Friday, he said.

There is also a chance that a tropical disturbance could develop into a storm in the eastern part of the Philippines in the coming days, the CWB forecaster said.

He noted, however, that it was too soon to determine the storm’s path or its potential impact on Taiwan.
