Taiwan on Tuesday reported six new cases of COVID-19, all contracted overseas, and one death from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).<\/p>\n

The six new imported cases involved four men and two women, aged between their 20s and 50s, the CECC said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Five of them were citizens of Thailand, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Vietnam and the United States, the center said, while the other was a Taiwanese who returned to the country on Nov. 3.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
To date, Taiwan has confirmed a total of 16,451 COVID-19 cases, of which 14,429 are domestic infections reported since May 15, when the country first recorded more than 100 cases in a single day.<\/p>\n
There have only been 123 domestic cases since Aug. 15, however, as daily case numbers have fallen to mostly single digits since then, according to CECC data.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the sole death on Tuesday involved a woman in her 90s who had a history of chronic illness, the center said, adding that the patient was confirmed positive for COVID-19 on June 1 after developing a sore throat and fever in late May.<\/p>\n

She passed away on Oct. 11, it said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
To date, 848 people in Taiwan have died of COVID-19 since the epidemic began, CECC data showed.<\/p>\n
