10 Suspects Summoned for Allegedly Aiding Illegal Entry of Chinese Nationals Into Taiwan

Taipei: The Taiwan Taipei District Prosecutors Office has summoned 10 suspects for questioning on the suspicion of facilitating the illegal entry of Chinese nationals into Taiwan. This move follows a comprehensive investigation into activities that allegedly breached national regulations.

According to Focus Taiwan, prosecutors conducted searches at nine locations as part of their investigation into violations of the Act Governing Relations between the People of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area, as well as charges of document forgery. The inquiry centers around a woman surnamed Pan, who operates a dental clinic. Together with another dentist, Pan allegedly submitted fraudulent treatment plans, aiding over 600 Chinese nationals to enter Taiwan from December 2022 to May 2023.

Though these individuals were officially listed as medical visitors, many reportedly engaged in unauthorized activities including illegal tourism, part-time work, and sex work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, several suspects, identified as travel agency representatives, are accused of collaborating with the dentists to facilitate these illegal entries.
