1st Taiwan-India Co-Produced Movie Bridges Cultural Gap: Filmmakers

New delhi: Filmmakers behind “Demon Hunters,” the first co-produced film between Taiwan and India, emphasized its cultural significance at a festival event in New Delhi on Friday. The movie was showcased at the 2025 Taiwan Film Festival, organized by Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture.

According to Focus Taiwan, Gayathiri Guliani, co-producer of the film, remarked on the groundbreaking nature of the project, stating, “This is going to be a game changer in the industry because it is the first-ever Taiwan-India collaboration.” The film, a fantasy action-comedy, combines Indian mythological themes with Taiwanese Taoist heritage in a demon-fighting narrative, aiming to preserve cultural memory.

Arjan Bajwa, an actor in the film, shared his perspective on the project, expressing that the fusion of traditions, mythology, and unique characteristics of both India and Taiwan will foster a closer relationship between the two nations. Cindy Shyu, another producer, highlighted her experiences in India, noting the cultural parallels she observed, especially in religious practices. “People in both countries often visit temples to pray, whether for big or small matters,” she said. “Having faith gives us strength and resilience when facing challenges.”

In addition to “Demon Hunters,” the festival screened other films, including “A Chip Odyssey” and “Hunter Brothers,” over the two-day event, which concluded on Saturday.
