Mayor Lauds Shipping Association for Successful FIATA World Congress Bid

Mayor Hau Lung-bin attended the member meeting of International Ocean Freight Forwarders and Logistics Association (IOFFLAT) on June 19.

During his address, the mayor remarked that IOFFLAT has been committed to bringing members closer since its establishment in1986. Efforts to boost cooperation ties among members have been made through experience sharing and education. Hau added that over the 30 years, the association has also contributed significantly to social causes, playing an important role in improving the industry’s image and fostering talent. Taiwan as an island country relies heavily on shipping industry for economic development, Hau noted. Learning that Taiwan has won the bid to host the FIATA World Congress 2015, Hau reckoned it is an achievement worth mentioning as it demonstrates the prowess of the island in ocean freight services being recognized internationally. The 2015 convention will provide a golden opportunity to market Taipei and Taiwan on the world stage.
