Call for Submissions: Trail Photography & Pavilion-naming Contests

To promote Taipei’s natural landscape, the Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO) is holding a trail photography contest – along with a pavilion-naming competition – to encourage hikers to record the beautiful scenes discovered during their travels.

According to GEO Commissioner Huang Li-yuan, the events seek to increase interactions between residents and mountain trails, thereby prompting people to recognize the necessity of protecting these valuable natural assets of the city. GEO pointed out that the photography contest targets 20 mountain trails across the city. Winners (5 excellent works and 15 honorable mentions) will receive coupons worth NT$1,000 and NT$200 respectively. The pavilion naming competition, on the other hand, is aimed at the 13 designated pavilions or platforms. One winner will be chosen for each facility, receiving a NT$300 voucher and a commemorative gift as prizes. The deadline for submissions is September 10. Registration forms for the competitions can be found on the Chinese activity websites: http://blog.xuite.net/naturet/ngo/225590079 (photography contest) and http://blog.xuite.net/naturet/ngo/225592408 (naming competition). Works should be mailed to nature.trail2014@gmail.com
