Smooth Road Photography Contest Opens

With the City’s “Smooth Road Project” approaching its conclusion following six years of work, the New Construction Office (NCO) kicked off a photography contest aimed to record the achievements of the project through still images.

According to NCO, the Smooth Road Project was launched in 2009 with the full support of Mayor Hau Lung-bin. As of August this year, a total of 269 roads have undergone surface repair. The combined area of renovated roads spans 6.43 million square meters. The photography competition is open to all residents regardless of age or nationality (NCO staff are not eligible to enter). Submitted photos must be taken at any of the City’s renovated roads (with construction work completed and traffic markings drawn). Participants can submit either colored or black-and-white photos. The works entered should be able to manifest the quality of the road, city landscape, and street views. Submissions are accepted between October 1 and 15. Results will be announced in a week following evaluation. There will be one gold medal (NT$30,000), one silver medal (NT$20,000), one bronze medal (NT$10,000), five honorable mentions (NT$3000), and 10 excellent works (NT$1,000). The number of prizes is subject to change. For details about the contest, please visit the activity website http://ncp.tcg.gov.tw/ncp/run.htm (Chinese) or the website of NCO http://www.nco.taipei.gov.tw/ (Chinese)
