City to Hold Promotion Event for Co-Working Spaces

The Department of Economic Development (DOED) announced that it will hold “Pearl Shake Week” from October 15 through 21. The event promotes the use of co-workplaces and offers a platform for individual workers to exchange experiences and explore business opportunities.

The press event was attended by representatives from well-known co-working premises including CLBC, Makerbar, MoSo Space, Happen, 混 hun, and Lianyun Underground. The one-week-long event will coincide with the first anniversary of “Taipei Co-Space”–the island’s first public shared office established by the city government in 2013. The space was created in response to the rise of “microenterprises.” According to DOED, Taipei Co-Space has been utilized by 75 workers (including 12 corporate teams) so far this year. The facility has also seen 411 visits by temporary or short-term workers, as well as the participation of 600 people in sharing activities since its inauguration.Pearl Shake Week aims to foster exchange between various businesses and promote cross-industry cooperation. The idea, inspired by the famous local drink bubble tea (where different flavors are created through shaking the mixer) hopes to bring together the islands’ entrepreneurs and co-working spaces and help microbusiness prosper with new sparks. The Pearl Shake Week will also feature master forums and entrepreneurs’ experience sharing sessions.
