Free MRT, Maokong Gondola Rides for Senior Citizens on Double Ninth Festival

As a way of saying ‘thank you’ to the senior population of Taiwan and celebrating the Double Ninth Festival, the city government will offer senior citizens aged 65 or above (or individuals of indigenous origins aged 55 or above) free rides on the MRT and Maokong Gondola on Thursday, October 2.

Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) reminds senior citizens who own concession EasyCards to bring them for quicker access at the gates of MRT stations. Those without concession EasyCard can show their identification documents and register at the information booth to receive free, single trip tickets. The same procedure applies to those planning to travel on the Maokong Gondola: single trip tickets are available at the information booth at the gondola stations. The city government encourages citizens to take the MRT or Maokong Gondola to the outskirts of the city for a short day trip on Double Ninth Festival to take in the fresh air of the great outdoors. To avoid unnecessary queuing time at the Maokong Gondola, TRTC encourages passengers to take advantage of the reservation website: https://web.trtc.com.tw/c/gondola/booking/ (Chinese)
