[2014 Countdown Party] Traffic Control Information

In light of the upcoming 2014 New Year Countdown Party, the city government will be implementing various traffic control measures for areas in the vicinity of Taipei City Hall starting 7 PM of December 31, 2014. The traffic control will be divided into three phases (Phase 1 – 3).

Phase 1 (Dec. 31, 7 PM – 8 PM):

-Control zone: zone outlined by red solid line in the attachment.

-Traffic barred from entering the control zone.

Phase 2 (Dec. 31, 8 PM – 10 PM):

-Control zone: zone outlined by orange dotted line in the attachment.

-No incoming/outgoing traffic in the control zone from 8 PM to 3 AM the next day. Only north-bound traffic is allowed for Keelung Road Underpass.

Phase 3 (Dec. 31, 10 PM – Jan. 1, 3 AM):

-Control zone: zone outlined by yellow dotted line in the attachment.

-No incoming/outgoing traffic in the control zone.

Parking Restriction:

-Public and private parking lots only allow exiting vehicles starting 7 PM in the control zone. Restriction control enforced starting 8 PM.

-Roadside parking is prohibited for cars and motorcycles in the control zone starting at 5 PM.

-Temporary parking is prohibited on yellow lines in the control zone between 5 PM and 3 AM the next day.

-No temporary parking at following road sections excluding buses:

  1. Guangfu S. Rd. east side (between Civic Blvd. and Nanjing E. Rd.)
  2. Bade Rd. south side (between Guangfu N. Rd. and Ln. 106, Sec. 4, Bade Rd.)
  3. Renai Rd. north side (between Yanji St. and Dunhua N. Rd.)
  4. Sec. 2, Keelung Rd. west side (between Wenchang St. and Guangfu S. Rd.)
  5. Songde Rd. west side (between Xinyi Rd. and Hulin St.)
  6. Guangfu S. Rd. east side (between Keelung Rd. and Wenchang St.)
  7. Xinyi Rd. south side slow traffic lane (between Dunhua S. Rd. and Tonghua St.)

Traffic control for City Hall Bus Station and Underpass:

-City Hall Bus Station will be closed starting 7 PM December 31. Passengers can take temporary shuttle buses outside traffic control area.

-Traffic control will be implemented for underpass between MRT City Hall Station and City Hall, and underpass between MRT Taipei 101/WTC Station and Taipei 101 starting 10 PM, December 31.

Traffic control for Bicycles and YouBike:

Accommodating the large crowd and for safty concerns, bikes will be prohibited in the control area and YouBike rental service will be suspended. YouBike Rental Station will be reopened 6 AM, January 1.

Taipei City Public Transportation Office has planned 5 shuttle bus routes.

-Route 1: To MRT Songjiang Nanjing Station, bus stop at Guangfu -Civic Blvd Intersection

-Route 2: To MRT Taipei Main Station, bus stop at Renai-Yanji Intersection

-Route 3: To MRT Gongguang Station, bus stop at Keelung-Ln. 450, Sec.4, Xinyi Rd. Intersection

-Route 4: To Muzha/Jingmei, bus stop at Songde-Xinyi Intersection

-Route 5: To MRT NTU Hospital Station, bus stop at south side pedestrian walkway on Xinyi Rd. (Anhe-Tonghua section)

Department of Transportation advises drivers to make a detour to prevent entering the control area. The advised detours are as follows:

-West/East bound traffic: Nanjing W. / E. Rd., Civic Blvd. and Heping W. /E. Rd.

-North/South bound traffic: Xinsheng N. /S. Rd., Jianguo N. /S. Rd., Dunhua N. /S. Rd. and Songshan Rd.

-From Neihu, Nangang and Songshan to Wuxing St.:

Vehicles: Civic Blvd. → Dunhua S. Rd. → Heping E. Rd. to Wuxing St.

Motorcycles: Civic Blvd. → Yanji St. or Guangfu S. Rd. to Keelung Rd.
