Seoul experienced another tropical night overnight, just a day after the end of a record 34-day streak of overnight temperatures remaining above 25 C, the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said Monday. The lowest nighttime temperature overnight in the capital city was 25.6 C at 5:54 a.m., according to the KMA. Seoul had seen tropical nights every day from July 21 to Aug. 23, before the streak ended on Saturday when the lowest nighttime temperature was 24.9 C. The southern resort island of Jeju reported yet another tropical night for the 42nd day straight, coming close to breaking the previous record set at 44 days in 2013. Other cities such as Incheon, Busan and Daegu also experienced the tropical night phenomenon overnight. On Monday, Typhoon Shanshan will bring hot and humid winds into the country as it advances northward, with the daily highs expected to hover around 30 to 34 C, and the apparent temperatures ranging from 33 to 35 C. Typhoon Shanshan is moving northwest after it passed by wate rs 710 kilometers southeast of Japan's Kagoshima at 3 a.m. before it is expected to veer northeast and hit Japan early Wednesday.
