‘Arrested Memory’ Dominates Golden Horse Award Nominations

Taipei:The Golden Horse Awards have announced the nominations for their 63rd edition, with the drama film "Arrested Memory" leading the pack, receiving 11 nominations.

According to Focus Taiwan, the nominations for "Arrested Memory" include best narrative feature, director, leading actor, supporting actor, cinematography, art direction, makeup and costume design, action choreography, original film song, film editing, and sound effects.

The film, directed by Japanese filmmaker Hiroyuki Tanaka, known as Sabu, is a darkly comedic crime thriller about a Taiwanese detective who suffers amnesia after a transfer, complicating a high-profile kidnapping investigation.

The film "Girl," by Shu Qi, garnered 10 nominations, while "Double Happiness" and "We Are Born Good" each received nine nominations, tying for third place.

This year, the competition saw 587 submissions, including 92 feature films, three animated features, 60 documentaries, 294 narrative short films, 71 documentary shorts, and 67 animated shorts.

For Best Actor, nominees include Leon Dai for "Kung Fu," Liu Kuan-ting for "Double Happiness," Yeung Wai-lun for "We Are Born Good," Ethan Juan for "Arrested Memory," and Jack Tan for "Dead Tide."

The Best Actress category lacks Taiwanese nominees, featuring contenders such as Angela Yuen for "Afterpiece," Jennifer Yu for "Double Happiness," Liang Cuishan for "Big Little Things," Chung Suet-ying for "We Are Born Good," and Yeo Yann Yann for "We Are All Strangers."

Nominations for best narrative feature include "Girl," "Double Happiness," "We Are Born Good," "Arrested Memory," and "We Are All Strangers."

The awards ceremony is scheduled for November 22 at the Taipei Music Center, with the red carpet event beginning at 5 p.m. and the ceremony at 6:30 p.m.
