Being in Taiwan is as exciting as feeling ‘first love’: DJ Soda

Being in Taiwan brings on a feeling as exciting as experiencing “first love,” said South Korean DJ and influencer DJ Soda on Friday in Taipei ahead of a performance that night.

DJ Soda, whose real name is Hwang So-hee and is in her 30s, said at a press event in Taipei that her first world tour kicked off in Taiwan many years ago when she wasn’t even famous at the time, but Taiwanese “showed her love” and partied like crazy during her set.

This was a continuation of one of the DJ’s Instagram posts put up a few days ago, where she said that the experience of performing in Taiwan was unbelievable as Taiwanese partiers helped her to gain confidence, which helped make her what she is today. However, she did not specify which year.

“I am always thankful to the people of Taiwan and Taiwan is one of the meaningful countries in my life,” said DJ Soda, who has over 4.9 million followers on Instagram, in the post.

Her trip to Taiwan has been well-received by fans as over 118,000 people clicked the heart icon to “like” one of her short reels on Instagram sipping bubble tea during what she referred to as the “real bubble tea trip in Taipei.”

Another Instagram post of her eating Taiwanese street snacks has received over 52,000 “likes.”

Currently touring Southeast and East Asia, DJ Soda is in Taiwan for a performance in Taipei on Friday before appearing at a show in Taichung on Saturday.

Earlier in the month, she was performing in Indonesia and the Philippines, and is expected to be in Singapore on Dec. 31 at Sentosa to conduct the New Year countdown.

DJ Soda has taken the Asian clubbing and electronic music festival scene by storm in recent years with her bubbly K-pop demeanor and her musical selection that runs through boom bap to trap to EDM to hard dubstep.

The last time DJ Soda performed in Taiwan was in 2019 at the S2O Taiwan Songkran Music Festival.
