“Bhoomtham” orders interpretation of definition of SMEs to be more comprehensive

Government House, “Bhoomtham” revealed that it discussed with the SMEs Business Council, acknowledged the problem, ordered an interpretation of the definition of SMEs to be more comprehensive. To take care of community enterprises

Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Said after discussion with the Thai Small and Medium Enterprises Council that today there was a meeting after a new committee was formed. It provided an opportunity to discuss problems and government guidelines. The progress in providing assistance was explained. This is in the same direction that the government is accelerating action. Entrepreneurs feel more at ease and the direction the government is taking is already a direction that supports SMEs.

There are more than 3 million SMEs who would like to clarify how many people are still doing business. The government sees SMEs as a strong base of the economy. If SMEs can move, it will make the economy better. We have discussed and if we need support from the
government in any part, please prepare a document and send it to the government and the government will have the responsible agency take care of it.

As for the guidelines for helping SMEs, which is in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet. The budget has already been approved. And in the matter of interest, it has been cleared with state banks and private banks. But the details may need to be discussed. This may require an interpretation of SMEs to be as wide as possible, covering community enterprises because they are related to farmers. Taking care of small SMEs may require adjusting the definition of SMEs to be broader by discussing between the Ministry of Finance. The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives includes the Ministry of Commerce.
