Kaohsiung: Blackpink’s concerts have significantly bolstered Kaohsiung’s tourism revenue, generating over NT$300 million (US$9.8 million) more than 120,000 attendees flocked to the Kaohsiung National Stadium over two days to see the K-pop sensation, with fans contributing to the southern port city’s tourist sector.
According to Focus Taiwan, the influx of Blackpink fans led to a noticeable increase in sales at local establishments, particularly in night markets such as Liuhe and Ruifeng, where vendors reported a sales surge of at least 30 percent. The concerts marked Kaohsiung as the first Asian stop of Blackpink’s “Deadline” world tour.
Despite some fans being unable to secure tickets, many opted to tailgate outside the stadium during the shows. The city’s Transportation Bureau noted that the combined number of ticketholders and tailgaters reached around 63,000 on Saturday and 59,000 on Sunday, totaling at least 120,000 attendees over the concert weekend.
The Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corp. (KRTC) experienced heightened metro activity, with 323,601 passengers on Saturday and 281,511 on Sunday. Saturday recorded the highest passenger numbers for the year, surpassing previous records set during Blackpink’s “Born Pink” concerts in 2023.
The “Deadline” tour not only set records for metro ridership but also made Blackpink the first Korean artists to hold the most shows at the Kaohsiung National Stadium. The group achieved another milestone by selling over 190,000 tickets for their 2023 and 2025 tour legs combined, attracting over 100,000 attendees for each of the two-day concert events.
