Busan Mayor Park Heong-joon raised the possibility of creating a direct flight route between his city and Warsaw during talks with the Polish president last week, his office said Sunday. Park made the remarks Friday as he met Polish President Andrzej Duda at Gimhae International Airport in Busan, located some 320 kilometers southeast of Seoul. During the meeting, Duda said both tourists and investors could engage in exchanges more actively if an additional direct flight route was added between the two countries. "A Busan-Warsaw direct flight route could be established in the future," Park said. "We expect exchanges and cooperation between Busan and Poland to further expand with the Polish president's visit to Busan." Currently, there are only direct flights to two Polish cities -- Warsaw and Wroclaw -- from Incheon International Airport, South Korea's main international airport just west of Seoul. Wroclaw is home to manufacturing facilities operated by LG Electronics Inc. and LG Energy Solution Ltd., Sout h Korea's leading battery maker. Duda held summit talks with President Yoon Suk Yeol on Thursday during his state visit to South Korea.
