Chilly 10.7°C Recorded in Hsinchu County, Lowest in Taiwan’s Low-Lying Areas

Hsinchu: Early-morning temperatures dipped to 10.7 degrees Celsius in Guanxi Township in Hsinchu County on Sunday, marking the lowest temperature recorded in Taiwan’s low-lying areas that day.

According to Focus Taiwan, the second-lowest temperature in any low-lying area in Taiwan on Sunday was recorded in Xihu Township in Miaoli County at 11.4 degrees, as reported by the Central Weather Administration (CWA).

Independent meteorologist Wu De-rong explained in an online post that the cold conditions were due to the influence of radiative cooling. Wu cited European weather model data to predict that Sunday would remain clear and stable, with temperatures continuing to rise during the daytime.

Wu further indicated that the northeasterly monsoon would begin strengthening on Monday morning, leading to increased moisture and a chance of brief showers in parts of northern and eastern Taiwan, along with a temperature drop. He noted that northern Taiwan would experience cooler conditions, while central and southern
Taiwan would remain comfortable during the daytime but cooler in the evening.
