Taipei: Cool and partly- to mostly-sunny conditions are expected around Taiwan this week, forecasters said Monday, after temperatures dipped below 10 degrees Celsius in the north and center of the country early in the morning. According to Focus Taiwan, Nantou's Zhongliao Township recorded an early morning low of 7.1 degrees Monday, marking the coldest temperature in a low elevation area nationwide. The mercury also dropped to 7.4 degrees in Kinmen, 7.7 degrees in Taichung's Wufeng District, and 9.2 degrees in New Taipei's Tamsui District, as reported by the Central Weather Administration (CWA). Partly cloudy to sunny conditions are expected across Taiwan on Monday, with high temperatures ranging from the mid-teens in the north to the upper-teens or low 20s in the south, the CWA indicated. Independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong mentioned that temperatures will rise slightly on Tuesday before a weak cold front arrives on Wednesday, bringing cooler weather and cloudy skies to the north, along with a chance of rain in the east. According to the CWA, from Thursday through Sunday, clear and gradually warmer weather will prevail across most of the country, with significant day-night temperature gaps. Daytime highs during this period will range from the low- to mid-20s in the north and the mid- to upper-20s in the south, with the warmest temperatures expected on Saturday and Sunday.
