Taipei:Cooler weather and intermittent rain are forecasted for northern and eastern Taiwan next week, with temperatures expected to dip to 19 degrees Celsius starting Thursday, as reported by the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
According to Focus Taiwan, CWA forecaster Chang Cheng-chuan mentioned that the northeast wind is expected to weaken briefly on Sunday before strengthening again on Monday. This change will bring occasional showers to northern and eastern Taiwan as well as the Hengchun Peninsula in the south.
Chang also noted that Taipei and northeastern Taiwan might experience locally heavy rain on Monday. Initially, temperatures will rise on Sunday, reaching highs of 30-31 degrees in eastern Taiwan and 32-35 degrees in western Taiwan.
However, as the stronger northeast wind arrives, temperatures in northern and northeastern Taiwan are forecast to drop to around 26 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday, leading to cooler conditions throughout the day.
By Thursday and Friday, clearer and drier weather will allow nighttime temperatures to fall further due to radiational cooling. Lows in central and northern Taiwan and the northeast are expected to reach 19-21 degrees, with other areas experiencing lows of around 22-23 degrees.
