CORONAVIRUS/Taiwan reports 11 new COVID-19 cases, including one new domestic infection

Taiwan reported 11 new COVID-19 cases, all but one contracted overseas, and no deaths from the disease on Wednesday, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

The sole domestic case was reported in New Taipei and involved an Indonesian woman in her 30s who received a COVID-19 test on Tuesday after developing a headache the previous day. The result came back positive on Wednesday, the CECC said.

The 10 imported cases were nine men and one woman who arrived in Taiwan between Sept. 3 and Sept. 28, including two from Kazakhstan, one each from the United States, Pakistan, Cambodia, Russia and the Philippines, and three others from as yet undetermined areas, the CECC said.

To date, Taiwan has confirmed a total of 16,216 COVID-19 cases, of which 14,417 are domestic infections reported since May 15, when the country first recorded more than 100 cases in a single day.
