Taiwan on Friday reported four new imported cases of COVID-19 but no new domestic infections or deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

The four new imported cases involved a young Indonesian woman, an American man, a Philippine woman and a Mongolian woman, who traveled to Taiwan from their respective countries between Oct. 1 and Oct. 13, according to the CECC.

One individual tested positive upon arrival in Taiwan, while the three others had a positive test during their 14-day quarantine, the CECC noted.

With the confirmation of the four new cases, the total number of reported COVID-19 cases in Taiwan rose to 16,325. Of that number, 14,419 are domestic infections reported since May 15, when the country first recorded more than 100 cases in a single day.

However, the daily number of domestic cases has fallen to mostly single digits since Aug. 15, totaling 116 since then, while the number of imported cases has risen by 388 to 1,688, according to the CECC.

With no new deaths reported Friday, the confirmed COVID-19 death toll in Taiwan remained at 846, CECC data showed.
