CWA Issues High Temperature Alert for Southern and Eastern Taiwan

Taipei: The Central Weather Administration (CWA) has issued high temperature alerts for six areas, mainly in southern Taiwan, as it forecast sunny skies across Taiwan on Tuesday.

According to Focus Taiwan, daytime highs in Yunlin County, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung County could reach 38 degrees Celsius or higher, as indicated by orange alerts issued by the CWA. Meanwhile, Chiayi County and Hualien County, under yellow alerts, may see highs of 36 degrees or above. The alerts will remain in effect until 5 p.m. Tuesday.

As of 12:06 p.m., four weather stations in Taiwan recorded temperatures of at least 36 degrees on Tuesday, with a notable high of 37.3 degrees in Yujing District in Tainan at 11:44 p.m. According to the agency's website, daytime temperatures across the island could reach 30 degrees, and remain above 25 degrees at night. Afternoon thunderstorms are likely in the Greater Taipei area, northeastern Taiwan, Hualien County, and mountainous regions.

Also on Tuesday, independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong noted that the stable weather would continue through Saturday due to a stationary front lingering over the East China Sea. He indicated that daytime conditions during this period would be "scorching hot and summerlike."
