Taipei: A delegation from the Danish parliament is in Taiwan for the second consecutive year to engage in discussions regarding regional security and to foster stronger bilateral relations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced on Tuesday. This visit underscores Denmark’s ongoing interest in enhancing its understanding of Taiwan’s political and economic landscape.
According to Focus Taiwan, the delegation is led by Kasper Roug, vice chairman of the Parliamentary Taiwan Friendship Group, and includes members Thomas Jensen, Alex Ahrendtsen, and Morten Klessen from Denmark’s Folketing. The purpose of their visit, which extends until Friday, is to gain insights into Taiwan’s development and the situation across the Taiwan Strait, thereby promoting exchanges between the two nations in various sectors.
Throughout their five-day stay, the Danish delegates are scheduled to meet with Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim and attend a banquet hosted by Deputy Foreign Minister Fran§ois Wu. They will also engage with Deputy Legislative Speaker Johnny Chiang, Deputy Defense Minister Po Horng-huei, and Energy Administration Deputy Director-General Chen Chung-hsien.
In addition to these meetings, the delegation will visit several key sites, including the Hsinchu Science Park Bureau, the Taiwan Space Agency, and the Taiwan FactCheck Center, as part of their itinerary outlined by MOFA.
This visit follows a previous delegation of Danish parliamentarians to Taiwan in November 2024, which was the first such visit since 2019, highlighting the growing interest and collaboration between Taiwan and Denmark in recent years.
