Taipei: The latest Pok©mon-themed aircraft from Taiwan's flagship carrier China Airlines (CAL) departed Taoyuan International Airport on Thursday on its maiden flight to Narita International Airport in Tokyo.
According to Focus Taiwan, the aircraft, first unveiled on Wednesday as the "Pikachu Jet CI2," features Dragonite, a dragon-type Pok©mon that is the mascot of Taiwan's Pok©mon Center. The design prominently displays Dragonite on the livery at the tail of the craft, along with other flying Pok©mon such as Hoppip and its final evolution, Jumpluff. Pikachu is also a significant part of the plane's design.
Inside the cabin, Pok©mon-themed elements are present on various items including headrest covers, pillowcases, luggage tags, catering tray mats, and both digital and printed boarding passes. These details enhance the overall experience for passengers, immersing them in the Pok©mon world.
As the Pok©mon franchise originated in Japan, the inaugural flight of the Pikachu Jet CI2 marked a symbolic return to its home country. This adds a special significance to the journey, connecting fans and travelers to the roots of the beloved franchise.
To celebrate the launch, CAL arranged for costumed staff dressed as Dragonite and Pikachu to greet passengers at the boarding gate. Additionally, the gate was decorated with Pok©mon-themed designs, providing an exciting and immersive start to the journey for passengers.
