EVA Air and UNI Air to Increase International Booking Fees from August 1

Taipei: Taiwanese carrier EVA Air and its sister airline UNI Air announced on Tuesday that they will raise booking service fees for international flights starting August 1. EVA Air stated that for flights departing from the Philippines or Hong Kong, the booking fees will be set at US$28 per ticket, while other international flights will incur a fee of US$33.

According to Focus Taiwan, Taiwan's major airlines, including EVA Air, China Airlines (CAL), Starlux Airlines, and Tigerair Taiwan, charge booking service fees on a per-ticket basis to cover the cost of using global distribution systems for reservations. CAL also recently announced an increase in its booking service fee from US$28 to US$30, effective July 9. Starlux Airlines had earlier raised its booking service fee from US$25 to US$30 on April 1.

Meanwhile, Tigerair Taiwan has maintained its booking service fees at NT$400 (US$12.55) during peak travel periods and NT$300 during off-peak periods.
